Shawn Mendes Was Asked If He Could Take Justin Bieber in a Fight

It wasn’t long ago that Justin Bieber challenged Shawn Mendes to a game of ice hockey after the “If I Can’t Have You” singer was dubbed “Prince of Pop” by The Observer. Now, Shawn is weighing in on whether or not he’d win in a fight against the Biebs, and tbqh, his hypothesis seems fairly accurate.

In an interview with Z100’s Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on Friday, May 3, Shawn was asked if he could take Justin in a fight. “I think I'm bigger and I weigh more,” the singer-songwriter began before adding: “I think he has another type of level that he can click into that I don't have. I don't possess the switch that I think he [has].”

Of course, Shawn’s comments were all in good fun, as he also spoke at length of his fondness for Justin. “He’s so funny,” he said, adding that he loves Justin’s Instagram feed, both for the singer’s humor, but also his ability to get serious about real-life issues. “[Justin] is one of the main reasons I started doing what I do,” Shawn added.

Despite attempts from some fans to stir up drama between the two singers, it remains clear that Justin and Shawn have each other’s backs. Last year, Shawn was even asked about Justin’s then-rumored relationship with Hailey Bieber, to which he responded: “I love them both. They're both really awesome people.”

All of this is to say, if Justin and Shawn ever do face off on the ice, here’s hoping they sell some tickets…or at least take pics.
