  • Sharon Osbourne shared a health update on her husband Ozzy, who underwent “major surgery” Monday.

  • Previously on The Talk UK, Sharon said the operation could “determine the rest of his life.”

  • The family hasn’t confirmed the nature of the operation, but Ozzy has previously shared his mobility struggles after sustaining injuries from a 2003 ATV accident and a 2019 fall.

Last week, Sharon Osbourne revealed on The Talk UK that her husband Ozzy was to undergo “a very major operation,” adding: It’s really going to determine the rest of his life.” The surgery took place on Monday in Los Angeles, and according to an update Sharon posted to Instagram, the rock legend is “on the road to recovery.”

“Our family would like to express so much gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love and support leading up to Ozzy’s surgery!” she wrote on her Story, per People. “Ozzy is doing well and on the road to recovery! Your love means the world to him.”

Ahead of the big day, the former X Factor judge was clearly apprehensive about the operation’s outcome. Since then, she hasn’t revealed any details about what the procedure entailed, however, Page Six reports that doctors removed and realigned pins in his neck and back. The Osbourne family has not publicly confirmed this, but Ozzy did tell Classic Rock magazine last month that he was awaiting neck surgery.

“I’m just waiting on some more surgery on my neck. I can’t walk properly these days. I have physical therapy every morning,” the 73-year-old explained. “I am somewhat better, but nowhere near as much as I want to be to go back on the road.” In the interview, he implied that the damage is lingering from a 2003 ATV accident. He initially had neck surgery in 2019 after a fall exacerbated his existing injuries, per People.

In 2020, Osbourne revealed he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, further complicating his health issues and postponing his ultimate goal of getting back to performing. “It’s PRKN 2,” Sharon told Good Morning America at the time. “There’s so many different types of Parkinson’s; it’s not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. And it’s—it’s like you have a good day, and then a really bad day.”

In April, the rockstar tested positive for COVID-19. “We’ve gone two years without him catching COVID and it’s just Ozzy’s luck he would get it now,” Sharon said at the time on The Talk UK.

Now that he’s officially on the mend, Ozzy is hopeful he can return to doing what he loves soon. “I hope I can do more gigs,” he told Classic Rock. I can’t wait to see you all again. God bless you all and stay safe.”
