When Sharna Burgess posted pictures of her 19-month-old son Zane, she probably didn’t expect the swift backlash it would receive. (Or maybe she did because people can be so mean on the internet.) For some reason, the sweet pictures and videos of Zane at a birthday party, where he went horseback riding, did make people mad, and they left some, well, hairy comments.

In a new post on Instagram, the Dancing With The Stars professional dancer shared adorable moments of her son Zane at a birthday party. The toddler is dressed in a green sweatshirt and sweatpants set with “Los Angeles California” written in the front. His long blonde hair is hanging in curly ringlets by his cheeks, with a white baseball cap sitting backward on his head. He is absolutely adorable as he poses next to chickens and bunnies in the petting zoo at a 1-year-old’s birthday party. Zane also got to ride a horse at the party! Burgess shared a photo and a video of her son holding onto a saddle with one hand and holding his dad Brian Austin Green’s hand with the other.

Even Burgess couldn’t handle how cute her son is. “I. Can’t. Handle it. He’s a little boy,” the Australian dancer captioned the post. “I blinked and it happened 🥹 so big, so loving gentle curious kind … and opinionated lol.”

She also shared that she’s OK with him growing up. “It’s ok because every stage and phase continues to get better and better,” Burgess continued. “My mum keeps reminding me that these first 5-6 years were the favorite of her life and I get it. All the discoveries and learning and growing and stumbling and snuggling are the best feeling ever.”

“One day, as many of you mama’s have shared with me… I’ll give anything to relive just a minute of these moments, 🤍” she added.

Despite these heartfelt words and beautiful photos of precious baby Zane, people still had plenty of mean things to say. Specifically, about Zane’s hair.

“Well ..if you REALIZE he’s a little big boy it might be time to get a big boy hair cut 👏” one person judgily wrote.

Someone else wrote, “lol do you all have something against haircuts?” Why would you want to cut those adorable blonde curls, though? Be serious.

“At first glance, I thought this is a girl. Sorry,” another person wrote. TBH, my sons had short hair, wore traditional “boy” outfits, and had blue blankets, and people still mistook them for baby girls. So, it’s totally fine to just do what you want because people will form opinions no matter what. It’s not like it really matters (and you can always gently correct people if they assume the wrong sex for your baby).

Other people had negative things to say about the birthday party in general, because apparently its too hard to keep scrolling if something upsets you. (Sarcasm, obviously.) One person wrote, “🥺please don’t ride the ponies. The owners are cruel to them, to get them to do what they want, and most are too old to be doing that any longer. Please.”

Someone else said, “Question…why are coastal communities still using all these balloons ? Death to sealife.”

Still, many other people were supportive. “He may be the cutest lil guy I’ve ever seen. And mine were pretty dang cute!” one person wrote. Someone else shared, “What a cutie, i love the hair. It’s so hard to cut their hair at this age because they lose their baby looks and then look like a big boy” Yes, they get it!

Burgess has addressed criticism over her son’s hair before. In July 2023, she answered a question on Instagram: “Are you going to let Zanes hair grow long like his brothers,” referencing Green’s kids Journey, 7, Bodhi, 9, and Noah, 11, who he shares with ex-wife Meghan Fox.

“I’ve had some people in my DMs that were so passionately angry at me for doing that,” Burgess wrote over a picture of Zane with a pink scrunchie in his hair. “I had someone comment on the fact that his hair tie this morning is pink. I don’t get this whole ‘Pink is for girls’ and me putting a pink hair tie [doesn’t] symbolize anything.”

And she brought up a fabulous point for all the misogynistic people in the comments section. “I don’t get this whole ‘Long hair is feminine or for girls.’ I mean, I’m sorry, have you seen Jason Momoa? I need to do a post of all the men that majority of women, and probably majority of men, find attractive and so many of them have long hair.”

Burgess added, “Like, it is just wild to me that when it’s kids, it’s like we’re pushing some agenda on them. It’s so f—king dumb!”

At the end of the day, Zane is just a cute little boy with amazing hair and a perfect sense of style. People who are mad at that need to spend some time reflecting on why they are so upset about an infant and move on with their lives.
