Shannen Doherty Files for Divorce From Husband of 11 Years

The documents were filed yesterday, April 21.

Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Shannen Doherty has filed for divorce from her husband of 11 years.

According to court documents filed on Friday, April 21—obtained by TMZ—Doherty separated from Kurt Iswarienko in January of this year, and things are sounding pretty tense between the estranged couple.

Leslie Sloane, a representative for Doherty, 52, issued a brief statement to the publication, writing, "Divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted. Unfortunately, she felt she was left with no other option." She then suggested the publication contact Iswarienko's agent for comment, suggesting she's "intimately involved" in the situation.

Other than that, a reason for the divorce was not cited, but sources told the publication that Doherty is "not well" as far as her health is concerned, making things even tougher for her.

In 2019, when speaking of her marriage following her breast cancer remission, Doherty said, “Cancer solidified us. Kurt and I have a much deeper appreciation for each other now,” as Parade previously reported.

She was diagnosed in 2015, entering remission in 2017. In February 2020, she announced that it had returned.

Taking to Instagram the same day the documents were filed, Doherty shared a message that seems to be directed toward the divorce. She posted a screenshot to her Instagram feed which reads, "The only people who deserve to be in your life are the ones who treat you with love, kindness and total respect."

Doherty and Iswarienko tied the knot in 2011. Four years later the actress was diagnosed with breast cancer. Doherty underwent hormone therapy before her single mastectomy in 2016, followed by breast reconstruction surgery in 2018.

Iswarienko, 48, was Doherty's third husband. The two were married on Oct. 15, 2011, with the ceremony filmed for the finale of WE tv's Shannen Says, which documented their planning process. They do not have any children.

Doherty is reportedly asking for spousal support for herself, with a request that Iswarienko not be awarded any. TMZ reports there was no prenuptial agreement between the two.
