Shannen Doherty is doing her best to prepare her mom for the difficult future that lies ahead.

The Charmed alum, 52, is currently battling terminal stage 4 breast cancer, and she recently opened up about the ways she is trying to make things easier for her mom, Rosa, in the event of her passing.

During the latest episode of her Let's Be Clear podcast, Doherty candidly explained how she has been letting go and organizing some of her material possessions in order to make things easier on her mom if Rosa lives longer than she does.

"My priority at the moment is my mom," Doherty said during the Monday, April 1 episode of her podcast, adding, "I know it’s going to be hard on her if I pass away before her."

In light of her devastating situation, the former Beverly Hills90210 actress wants to make sure her affairs are in order, to ease the burden on her mother as much as possible.

"I want other things to be a lot easier. I don’t want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with," she explained. "I don’t want her to have four storage units filled with furniture."

As a result, Doherty said she's been donating and selling many of her personal items in preparation for the grim inevitability of her death—but the process has not been easy.

She recently traveled to her home in Tennessee to pack up some of her belongings there after making the difficult decision to let go of her dream to expand the property and live there while fostering horses, an experience she said was "really hard and really emotional" for her.

"I felt like I was giving up on this dream of building this property out, and putting a house for me and a house for my mom and then extending the barn," Doherty stated, noting that she "started crying" while she was packing things up.

"Did it mean that I was throwing in the towel?" she wondered at the time, before realizing it was "the right thing to do" to help "leave behind a cleaner, easier transition" for her mom.

Doherty has been battling breast cancer since her initial diagnosis in 2015. She later went into remission in 2017, only for the cancer to return two years later as stage 4.

She has since been fighting for her life while accepting the tragic reality that lies before her, and she hasn't been afraid to share some of her hopes for when the time of her passing does come.
