Marvel Studios has now confirmed that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will also be helming the next major superhero ensemble movie Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the Hawaiian-born director will expand on his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by directing the next Avengers film, which is currently slated to arrive on May 2 of 2025.

The film will be the fifth installment in the Avengers lineup and conclude Phase Six of the MCU along with Avengers: Secret Wars that'll arrive just half a year later. While details revolving around the project remain scarce at the moment, we do know it'll revolve around Kang the Conqueror, a villain portrayed by Jonathan Majors who made his debut in the Disney+ series Loki. Cretton himself is currently working on both a sequel to Shang-Chi as well as a live-action Wonder Man series for the streaming platform.
