The MIDO Eyewear Show in Milan is the world’s largest optical and sunglass exhibition, showcasing the best of Italian-made eyewear. The president of MIDO, Cirillo Marcolin — whose namesake company, Marcolin, is one of the world’s leading eyewear groups — underscores the term “made in Italy” and its reputation for excellence.
MIDO is where international players, small artisans, avant-garde companies, and young designers come together to talk about eyewear, discuss new technology and research, and find out about market trends. And clearly, Americans favor European style: In 2016, U.S. consumers bought more than 30 percent of the sunglasses exported from Europe. Now, that’s a lot of shade to throw around!
So here are the five hottest sunglass trends for this summer. Be warned — they’re colorful and bold!
