These Sexy Shrek Brows Are Going Viral (Yes, I Said "Sexy")

I have this one friend — we'll call her Rachel because that's her name — who's currently going through a Shrek phase. And by that, I don't mean this functional adult woman is binge-watching all of the Shrek movies and playing all the offshoot video games (of which there are apparently nine, for some reason); rather, she's taken quite an interest in "sexy" Shrek fan fiction and the hilariously disturbing memes born of it, some of which rework Smash Mouth lyrics into lewd wordplay, because Smash Mouth lyrics weren't dreadful enough already. (I'm sorry, but I'm not even going to link to any of these because I don't want that shit in my browser history.) So imagine my surprise when these glamorous and salacious Shrek eyebrows came to my attention before Rachel's.

Your eyes do not deceive you. Australian makeup artist Audrey Addams has topped off a dramatically winged, shimmering eye look with Shrek-shaped eyebrows; and not just any Shrek-shaped eyebrows, but eyebrows that appear to portray a nude Shrek lying on his side in a position similar to that of Burt Reynolds in his infamous 1972 Cosmopolitan centerfold. The tweet, featuring four photos of the creation, has been liked more than 30,000 times and retweeted over 9,000 times since it was posted on Monday, and it's garnering tons of enthusiastic comments like "This is a goddamn work of art" and "This is going to be my prom look" from people who are, to my surprise, not Rachel.

Addams told Teen Vogue that she used the Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk to draw the initial shape on her bare brow bone, followed by Ben Nye Creme Color in Green, Black and White, applied with an eyeliner brush for the fine details. After setting the brows with Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadows in Acidberry, Midori, Candy Crush and Tako, she used an eye pencil to outline her ogres.

So, now you know how Addams did her Shrek eyebrows, but boggled minds want to know: why? "Shrek has been a running joke in my group of friends for a few years now, and I do really love both the movies and the memes. It's gotten to the point where even my birthday party was Shrek themed and we all went to see Shrek the Musical together," she told Teen Vogue. "I started doing some Shrek makeup looks a while ago in between doing my more serious looks just to make my friends laugh and I keep wanting to outdo myself so they've progressively become more and more ridiculous."

Perhaps you noticed, in Addams's tweet, that she said, "More Shrek brows," implying this isn't her first time drawing the cartoon character on her forehead. And after doing a little digging on her Instagram account, I found she has not only drawn Shrek presiding over the marriage of Pennywise and the Babadook on her friend's back (I seriously just started doubting that I'm actually awake right now), she has indeed, dabbled in Shrek eyebrow art before.

And according to the caption on the Instagram repost of the Twitter-famous photos, "I'm literally never going to stop drawing Shrek on my face and ur all welcome."
