Sex Education's Emma Mackey looks so different with a blunt bob and full fringe

If you’ve ever watched Sex Education, I think we can agree that the character of Maeve Wiley is an absolute icon. The Moordale High student began with two-toned hair, with the ends dyed a faded shade of pastel pink. But by the time we reached season three, Maeve is forced to dye her hair back to its original dark brown colour after headteacher Hope Haddon says bright dye is in violation of the school’s dress code.

This deeper brunette colour is actually more in-line with the hair colour Emma Mackey (who plays Maeve) sports IRL. In fact, Emma doesn’t really seem to switch up her hair often in everyday life but is always willing to try something new for a photoshoot. Just look at her recent Instagram post.

While we wait for more news on season 4 (seriously, when is it coming???), Emma has been posing for Flaunt Magazine. In one epic picture, the actor is dressed and styled as not one, not two but five different characters. Each one looks completely different but we can’t stop staring at one character in particular.

Dressed in a cream two-piece suit, Emma has a blunt bob that skims her chin, complete with a full, blocky fringe that was styled by hairstylist Ben Mignot. I feel like it’s the kind of hairstyle many of us sported in one of our childhood school portraits, but Emma makes it super chic. In fact, it’s giving me The Incredibles' Edna Mode vibes and we all know she’s the chicest of them all.

Emma’s Sex Education co-star, Aimee Lou Wood, who plays Maeve’s bestie Aimee Gibbs, commented on the post: “This ones my favourite”.

She then added: “I just know you had voices for each of the characters”. Emma then responded: “@aimeelouwood you read me like a book and I love you for it”.

On-screen besties supporting each other IRL? We really do love to see it.
