Willie Garson died of pancreatic cancer in 2021 while filming 'Sex and the City' spin-off series 'And Just Like That…'

Sex and the City stars are paying tribute to their late co-star Willie Garson on what would have been his 59th birthday.

Kristin Davis penned a touching tribute to Garson on Instagram, writing, "Today is Willie’s Birthday. I celebrate all that he has left behind. His incredibly kind and whip smart son @…_garson and so many friends with wonderful memories. We struggle with your absence dear Willie."

She continued: "We miss you and quite frankly there is a painful hole in our hearts. I can only imagine how Nathen and the rest of the family are coping. I never take my health for granted. And I try to remember to connect and appreciate the people in my life in real time. We miss your humor and silliness on the set and I miss our conversations about our kids. Hope you are flying free dear Willie."

Her post features screenshots of quotes she had previously given to E! News at the time of Garson's death.

Cynthia Nixon also took to the social media platform to write a sweet message remembering Garson on his birthday. "Dear Willie, I am thinking of you today on your birthday. I miss you. I miss your sweetness, your snarky sense of humor and and your sublime talent. I miss you when we are shooting. I miss you when not. We are so lucky to have known you but just wish so much you were still here," said Nixon, who shared a picture of herself hugging her late co-star.

Mario Cantone, who was Garson's on-screen partner Anthony on the iconic show, also wrote a short yet heartfelt post. "Happy Birthday my Big Screen Husband #williegarson You are missed and loved in so many ways. An incredible partner, father and friend. You are in my heart and mind through all of it," he said, sharing a behind-the-scenes image from their time on-screen together.

Garson was best known for his role as Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City. In addition to starring in the show as a close friend of the women, he appeared in the first two Sex and the City movies.

The actor was asked to reprise his role in spin-off series And Just Like That, with Stanford replacing Samantha as the fourth main friend. However, the actor died of pancreatic cancer in 2021, with his death coinciding with his time filming the series.

To explain his absence on the show, his character Stanford was said to have moved to Japan to cope with the his divorce from Anthony.
