The "Sex and the City" Cast Feud Is Getting Worse
In the past week, Sex and the City fans learned that a third movie was definitely not happening, per Sarah Jessica Parker. But what might've been just the story of another movie not getting a long-promised sequel is heating up, with former co-star Kim Cattrall putting Parker and the SATC franchise on blast.
In an interview with British TV personality Piers Morgans, Cattrall defended her choice to not participate in a third film, which she claims to have never signed onto. This goes against Parker's claim that the film was already in the works, as well as a DailyMailTV report that Cattrall eventually "torpedoed" the film with her "demands."
As Cattrall put it:
"And now, now at this very moment it’s quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve been saying for almost a year of 'no' that I’m demanding or a diva ... I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous."
Specifically to Parker, she also added:
"And this is really where I take to task the people from Sex And The City and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker in that I think she could have been nicer. I really think she could have been nicer."
Cattrall also revealed that the four main SATC cast members have drifted apart in recent years:
"They all have children and I am ten years older and since specifically the series ended I have been spending most of my time outside of New York so I don't see them. The common ground that we had was the series and the series is over."
Cattrall's focus now is on her own career, but she claims she would've been open to a behind-the-scenes dialogue about the third film, had it come:
"And that's another thing that's really disappointing is that nobody ever picks up the phone and tries to contact you and say, 'How you doing?' That would have been the way to handle it
And usually what happens in a healthy relationship is that someone, or a transaction for a job in my business, is that someone says, 'Are you available?' and you say 'Yes' and here's the job and you say 'Yes, but thank you very much but I'm sort of over here right now but thank you very much,' and that person turns to you, and they say 'That's great, good luck to you, I wish you the best.'
That's not what happened here, this is, it feels like a toxic relationship."
