Seth Rogen: Stormy Daniels Told Me About the Trump Affair Years Ago
Seth Rogen has been ahead of the curve on the Stormy Daniels-Donald Trump saga for a decade now. Who knew! During a Monday appearance on The Ellen Show, Rogen shared that Daniels, who has credited roles in Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, casually alleged that she had an affair with Trump all those years ago.
“I’ll be honest, she may have mentioned some of this stuff around 10 years ago,” Rogen told Ellen DeGeneres. “At the time, when you ask a porn star who they’ve been sleeping with and the answer is Donald Trump, it was like the least surprising thing that she could have said. And so yeah, she had mentioned it actually. She did mention it.”
The alleged Daniels-Trump affair happened in 2006, which would have been around the same time as production on Knocked Up—perfect timing for Rogen and the team to get some then-fresh gossip.
In the interview, the comedian added that Daniels’s claim “wasn’t that surprising.” He also never expected the news to get out even as Trump’s presidential campaign began gathering steam.
“It became clear that no one cared about anything he did,” Rogen said, referring to Trump’s brash campaign and the escalating scandals that did little to dent his run. “It didn’t really occur to me even that it wouldn’t come out or anyone would care about it. But then when I saw it I was like, ‘Oh yeah, Stormy told us all about that.’”
Alas, he hasn’t seen Daniels since those Apatowian halcyon days. For those racking their brains to remember who Daniels could have portrayed in both Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Rogen explained that she played a stripper in both films.
“It was easier to hire porn stars to play strippers,” he said. “For Stormy, that was the easiest thing she did all week . . . it seemed lateral at worst, and perhaps an easy day on set.”
Judd Apatow, who directed The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, has spoken kindly of working with Daniels. “I just remember that she was very smart and really strong and funny, to the point where we kept asking her to do silly things in our movies,” he told the Daily Beast in March.
This isn’t Rogen’s first time ambling adjacent to Trumpworld. Last year, he made headlines when he realized that Donald Trump Jr. followed him on Twitter, then promptly tweeted at the First (Large Adult) Son to “ask your dad to resign before he destroys the planet.” Trump Jr., for some reason, ignored this urgent tweet, so Rogen followed that up with a direct message, prodding him to ask his dad to “go back to being just a guy on tv. The majority of the world would be pretty psyched!!!” Again, no response—so Rogen upped the ante even further by roping in Stephen Colbert, who realized that Trump Jr. followed him on Twitter as well.
The eldest Trump child ignored them a third time. Still, maybe Robert Mueller should consider adding Seth Rogen to his team. The connected comedian could turn out to be the linchpin of this whole operation.
