Shark Week is finally here!

The most “fincredible” part of summer TV is starting on Discovery Channel on Sunday, July 28. This is the 31st consecutive year of shark-centered goodness and we think it’s going to be the best yet, for a few reasons.

For one, the network is releasing its first-ever feature-length film. Capsized: Blood in the Water is based on a scary true story about yacht passengers that have to fend off a group of tiger sharks after their boat overturns. Anyone else feeling like they’ll never go out on the water again?

In addition to the original movie, fans can sink their teeth into more than 20 hours of programming featuring great white breaches, Australian accents, and underwater cage footage throughout the next eight days. Here’s everything you need to know about Shark Week 2019.

What are the dates for Shark Week 2019?

What's new on Shark Week this year?

Who could forget when Rob Riggle tamed sharks with Shaq for the show's 30th anniversary?! This year, Shark Week will feature even more hilarious moments when Rob and his famous friends embark on a "Shark Trip" together. We can only imagine the kind of trouble they'll get into!

Discovery Channel will also continue to work with world-renowned marine biologists to showcase the latest shark research technology and offer deeper insight into some of the most unique shark species known to humans.

Shark Week 2019 will take viewers to the depths of the ocean in search of Deep Blue, test out cutting-edge technology for shark-detecting surveillance, and even bait sharks using a "drone-towed" seal decoy. All of these daring experiments and new stories will be showcased across 18 new programs, including Capsized: Blood in the Water, which stars Josh Duhamel.

New programming will begin at 8 p.m. ET/PT during each night of Shark Week. "Shark After Dark" episodes, which begin at 11 p.m. ET/PT on select days, will dive into highlights from the night and show previews for the next day's programs.
