Serena Williams Matched Her Hair Scrunchie to Her Tennis Outfit at the U.S. Open

On Saturday, September 5, Serena Williams landed yet another win at the U.S. Open against 2017 champion, Sloane Stephens. As per usual, she killed it on the court — and in serious style to boot. For her third singles match, the 38-year-old athlete wore a cherry red tennis dress by Nike, along with matching red sweatbands around her wrists, and our personal favorite part: a scarlet scrunchie in her hair.

This wasn't the first time she matched her hair accessory to her outfit, either. During her second singles match against Margarita Gasparya on Thursday, September 3, Williams wore a gray Nike dress with a matching gray scrunchie. If you ask us, the monochromatic look is always a crowd-pleaser (hence why it's showcased at so many award shows), so it's only fitting that Williams wore these looks while dominating on the court.

Makeup-wise, Williams kept it super simple with clean, glowing skin, brushed-up brows, and a little black eyeliner on her upper lashline. And on her nails, she went for a glossy bright red hue that tied both looks (the red and gray) together. While we're on the topic of nails, it's worth noting that the tennis star has worn some super-fun manicures at tournaments — including the adorable koala-inspired look she wore at the 2020 Australian Open.

Naturally, we can't wait to see what looks Williams debuts next at the U.S. Open. Here's hoping she takes home the championship.
