Serena Williams jokes that her living room turned into a playroom after having daughter Olympia, and fans know the struggle is real

Motherhood looks good on Serena Williams. But on her living room floor, perhaps not so much.

The athlete posted a photo on Instagram Thursday morning highlighting one of the many frustrations that come with parenthood: Toys. Everywhere. In the photo, she’s standing in the middle of her living room floor, which is peppered with toys, and her arms are thrown up as if she’s surrendering to the changes that have come to pass.

The tennis champion, who became a mom last year, is not one to give up, so this acceptance is notable. But she also knows she’s not alone.

Her strong fanbase, many of whom are commiserating moms, were quick to comment that they relate to her particular struggle. “Lmao…….welcome to my world!!” someone wrote. “Been there. If you have more kids, it will get worse,” wrote another follower. “Yep, same,” a third commented. “Same at our house, we moved our beautiful coffee table out of the room so our son could have more safe tumbling/jumping space,” another mother explained. “We all know that feeling,” someone commented. “Don’t worry mine looks the same lol.”

These fans are happy she’s showing a realistic side of motherhood, no fancy frills (or should we say tutus?). “Same. So glad real life motherhood affects us all equally. Rich and poor alike,” one wrote. “Love how very real you are. Love the toys all over…just perfect.”

Williams has always made an effort to be a relatable mother. In August, she shared an anecdote on Instagram about her plane journey with 1-year-old daughter Olympia, which ended with Williams covered in vomit. “Kids humble us,” she wrote on Instagram. “#ThisMama wants to remind all mothers the importance of supporting one another through the highs, lows, laughs and tears.” She then encouraged her followers to share their parenting tales using the hashtag #ThisMama, corralling a chorus of commiserating moms.
