Serena Williams is not a normal mom, she's a cool mom.

As most families celebrate the holidays and enjoy downtime in the days leading up to the new year, the Williams family is building their own traditions. On Instagram yesterday, the retired tennis pro shared a series of photos from a house party she and husband Alexis Ohanian threw for their daughter, Alexis Olympia.

The five-year-old's surprise bash included colorful balloons, a Moana lookalike, and her parents dressed in casual workout clothes.

"Sometimes we surprise @olympiaohanian with parties. We don’t need a reason or a special occasion we make everyday as special and memorable as we can. Also her mama fast…." Williams wrote in the post caption.

"Still can't believe Moana was willing to come all the way from Motunui," Ohanian joked in the comments.

Williams and Ohanian welcomed their only daughter on September 1, 2017, and married two months later, on November 16, 2017. Upon stepping back from tennis earlier this year, Williams said she is looking forward to being more present at home—as a wife and mother—and expanding her family.

"I have never liked the word retirement. It doesn't feel like a modern word to me. I've been thinking of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something very specific and important to a community of people. Maybe the best word to describe what I'm up to is evolution," she wrote in an emotional essay. "I'm here to tell you that I'm evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me. A few years ago I quietly started Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm. Soon after that, I started a family. I want to grow that family."
