In a recent Instagram post, Serena Williams shared that when she ended up with an abundance of extra breast milk, she decided to donate it to those in need. In the clip, the tennis champ showed off a freezer full of breastmilk bags, sharing that she was “really excited” to donate the excess milk “to people who really need it.”

“It’ll be anonymous, but super excited to just help in some way,” she added. In the caption of her post, Williams explained how she ended up with so much extra milk after a recent trip to New York, writing, “After going through a screening I was able to donate it instead of taking the milk home. I know so many amazing women that adopt or are unable to make milk. It felt amazing. BTW Someone out there is getting some super soldier milk.

Of course, plenty of commenters praised her donation, with many joking about the “liquid gold” those babies will be getting without their parents and caregivers even realizing. “With your diet and who you are I would drink that milk myself,” said one person. “The baby that will drink this milk will become the next Wimbledon winner,” joked another. “I can only imagine what some athletes and bodybuilders would be willing to pay for that milk,” added yet another, while one person hilariously called it “G.O.A.T. milk.”

All jokes aside, Williams’ donation undoubtedly helped those who don’t produce enough breast milk to feed their babies or adoptive parents who prefer to feed their little ones with milk instead of formula.

“My baby is adopted and ended up having severe dairy allergies, so we relied on donor milk. It was such a gift to us and I’m always so grateful when I think about it!

” wrote one person. “As a birth worker, thank you. I hope this inspires more milk donations and that more people understand just what a gift this is,” shared another.

If Williams’ donation has you inspired, here’s everything you need to know about donating breast milk to a milk bank. Of course, you can always donate funds to your local milk bank to help support their efforts as well. Every type of contribution can help ensure that little ones and parents alike are nourished and cared for in the most essential of ways.
