  • Serena Williams had her second baby in August of 2023, and she's now getting back into the gym for some postpartum workouts, which she is sharing on Instagram.

  • This isn't the first time she has shared her postpartum recovery, or her "motherhood" workouts.

  • Now, the tennis star is demonstrating her lifting workout, which includes squatting some pretty heavy weights in the gym.

Motherhood is not slowing tennis G.O.A.T. Serena Williams down... at all. In fact, Serena is already back on her fitness grind after baby No. 2, and she's posting her progress on Instagram for her followers to see.

Serena, 42, said she was “getting back in the swing of things” in a new IG reel from her gym, and based on the impressive weighted squats she pumped out, I’d say Serena has already found her footing. ICYDK, the elite athlete and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, now have two little girls—6-year-old Olympia and 5-month-old Adira, who was born in August of 2023.

In the video, Serena is doing some intense weighted squats with a weighted bar on her shoulders, a lifting workout that targets the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings. Serena explains that it’s not her usual weight on the bar, but it’s a starting place until she gets “back where [she] needs to be.”

Of course, the inspiring video was incredibly popular with her friends, fans, and followers, who left tons of supportive comments for her. “The Queen, the best all the time🙌❤️,” wrote one follower. “Forever THE QUEEN! ❤️,” added another. "Get it Serena!!!" a third commented.

Serena has been slowly getting back into her fitness routines post-baby, and recently shared a total supermom moment during her pilates workout. In a video she posted on Instagram, Serena hopped on her reformer for some side squats with a baby pack strapped to her. (A reformer is a piece of Pilates equipment used to help with low-impact strengthening workouts.) Serena said she had the carrier just in case baby Adria woke up from her nap.

While her life may look a bit different right now (Serena is not gearing up to dominate anyone on the tennis court... yet!), she has shared some of her tennis season workouts in a MasterClass.

“I train very hard. I almost break my body down,” she said. “That way, when I start, I'm ready for anything and I'm ready for it to last for about eight to nine months in the season. Somewhere in the middle of the season, I have another intense training session.”

For Serena, that means getting into the kind of cardio shape that would allow her to play for four hours straight. Clearly, Serena likes to stay ready, as she shared in the Masterclass. To get her heart rate up during workouts, the tennis star usually opts for a run or biking sesh, and when she wants to mix things up, she'll get her cardio in by dancing.

“I also started dancing, because after running for 20 minutes or 30 minutes, I just get bored,” Serena shared. “And with dancing, you still are able to condition itself, but you can have a lot of fun while doing it.”

Serena also uses Tonal home workout equipment (she loves it so much that she's an investor). If you're not familiar, the company makes interactive screens with built-in resistance for at-home workouts. And, Serena makes sure fitness is a family affair. In an Instagram Story filmed from her home gym, Serena showed Olympia’s own little setup.

"My little baby got some equipment," Serena shared in the video. "She has an elliptical, and then the Stairmaster or treadmill, and then she has a little bike." It’s seriously adorable to see the mini equipment.

On the food front, Serena keeps her diet nutritious to keep up with her busy lifestyle!

"My philosophy is eat to live. Don't live to eat," she shared with Women's Health. "I want to have a healthy lifestyle and, so you know, [I'm eating] a lot of greens and mostly plant-based lately, just super healthy stuff."

Serena is an inspiration! Total G.O.A.T. behavior.
