We all know first impressions are lasting, especially when meeting someone new online. When the video call screen reads “Connecting,” you can only hope that you look your best. And though it’s a virtual date and there’s no need to go full glam, it doesn’t hurt to put on a little makeup.

As virtual dates become more and more popular, Yahoo Life has tapped an expert who has had lots of experience with FaceTime dates during quarantine. Serena Kerrigan created an Instagram Live show called Let’s F***king Date, offering advice on how to online date safely. Every Friday night, Kerrigan goes on a blind date with someone who was handpicked by her followers, and they get to watch and weigh in. This makes her the perfect person to get beauty product recommendations to help prepare you for your next virtual date.

“I think this pandemic and the current climate has taught us that life is short. Like go after what you want,” says Kerrigan.

In early 2020, she left her role at Refinery29 to expand her brand, "SFK, the Queen of Confidence,” which originated from a persona she created during her freshman year at Duke University. This helped Kerrigan to build self-esteem and it eventually became more than just an alter ego. She evolved a symbol of women’s sexual freedom and loving oneself unapologetically.

Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation

If you’re seeking flawless skin, then this foundation is a must-have. The Armani Beauty Foundation provides a luminous finish that makes your complexion look naturally flawless.

“It's not super cakey, but it's buildable... it makes you glowy,” says Kerrigan. We all know that cameras can amplify skin imperfections, but this foundation has a medium coverage, so you’ll still look like you’re not wearing too much makeup.

Hourglass Unreal High-shine Volumizing Lip Gloss

There’s really no need to put on lipstick when you’re in the comfort of your home (unless you want to). This volumizing lip gloss can dress up your lips just enough, while also enhancing the natural shape.

“I think it's the best lip gloss,” Kerrigan says.

Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter

Ever struggle with looking washed-out on camera? This Becca Cosmetics highlighter solves that problem. Kerrigan describes the product perfectly, adding, “If you put a disco ball in my pocket, this is what it would be, the Becca Champagne Pop.”

This pressed highlighter creates a luminous glow, and it boasts a creamy texture will melt right into your skin.

The Ultimate Must-Have

Kerrigan’s ultimate must-have for getting virtual-date ready is the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter. “It's not too much and I think it's good on every skin color. So I would say it's pretty universal product.”

“In terms of dating, I think it's really just about the conversation. It's about being yourself. But, if there are little tips and tricks that will make you feel like yourself, like whether it's a little glow or a little lip... or having a nice base, then you do you.”

So when you ace your virtual date, don’t forget to thank Serena Kerrigan.
