Sephora carries a lot of things we think of as life-changing, from makeup palettes that give us endless color combinations to acne treatments that completely clear our complexions. Beauty shopping is something we do for ourselves — for enjoyment and happiness, although we might not fully register that when we’re sorting through hundreds of lipsticks in their aisles. Now, the beauty retailer is offering a new take on that experience, one they hope will bolster and benefit patients who have been affected by cancer.

The company just launched their Brave Beauty in the Face of Cancer class nationwide, a free, 90-minute workshop for both men and women undergoing cancer treatments. On one level, the class provides a forum for people to pick up tips on dealing with hair loss and skin sensitivities. The “class for confidence” allows customers to “discover techniques and products that address the visible effects of cancer treatments” with tailored skincare tips, Color IQ skin-matching, and a step-by-step tutorial. But, more importantly, it’s also a safe space that allows patients to come together and connect in an empowering environment.

“These classes initiate powerful and positive connections for those dealing with cancer, away from the hospital environment,” says Corrie Conrad, Sephora’s Director of Social Impact and Sustainability.

Currently, more than 40 Sephora stores nationwide have signed up to host. See the full list of participating stores on their site).
