Royal expert and author Robert Jobson is out here pulling back the curtain on what it’s like to work with Prince William, and apparently, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows and corgis. Jobson spoke to a “senior royal household figure” for his new book Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, who told him that William isn’t exactly the easiest to work with.

“He can be difficult,” the insider said, via Page Six. “He is a driven person and that can make him impatient.”

King Charles, on the other hand, is slightly more chill. Which doesn’t always vibe with Prince William. “That can make William short-tempered when dealing with Charles,” the ~senior royal household figure~ added. “The Boss (Charles) has a temper, too, but it does not go on and on. He can get frustrated and flare up and then, in an instant, it is forgotten about. With William, it is rarely forgotten.”

Jobson himself notes that King Charles “knew” both Prince Harry and Prince William were “strong-willed, stubborn even” and that “conflict would be very difficult to manage and could have a detrimental impact on the monarchy itself. Sometimes the level of belligerence between his sons, and indeed towards him, has shocked Charles.”

We know about this firsthand thanks to Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, where he accused Prince William (aka his “archenemisis”) of getting physical with him during a fight about Meghan Markle:

“He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast,” Harry wrote re: the altercation. “He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

Truly...no wonder these two aren’t on speaking terms!
