Senior Rescue Carriage Horses Finally Get the Care They Deserve at Animal Sanctuary
Horses pulling carriages, as charming and pretty as they are, in urban areas are really just a tourist attraction. According to the Animal Welfare Institute the reality for these horses is : daily exposure to noise and pollution, heavy traffic, hard pavement, long workdays, constant heavy loads, and lack of access to pasture. It's enough to make you rethink taking one of these for a lap around the park.
There are sanctuaries dedicated to providing retired carriage horses the sort of retirement they deserve and TikTok user @ThegentleBarn posted the following touching video of these beautiful animals getting just that.

Weiner received a tip about where horses used for carriages are put up for auction, he met these two who had no other options. Because they're older and have medical issues, they would've likely been sold for slaughter if The Gentle Barn hadn't stepped in. These first moments are everything for us, and we can't wait to show them how wonderful their lives will be now that they're no longer forced to pull heavy carriages. This is only the beginning of their story. And it's the beginning of our journey to start our new sanctuary and be a solution to the carriage industry.
