Senior Cat With Dementia Keeps Trying to Return to His Former Home and We're in Tears

He didn't understand why his owners were no longer there.

As a pet ages, there are a few adjustments that need to be made. This is when you may consider purchasing mobility aids, joint supplements, or even medications to keep them healthy and happy. Updates in diet and exercise can be beneficial, too, but it's important to pay attention to any neurological changes your furry friend may be facing. Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome can occur in older cats and dogs, according to Vetwest Animal Hospitals, though a supportive owner can make a world of difference.

Luckily for one senior cat who mistakenly visited his former home, both his owners and his new friend are there to help. TikToker Fanny (AKA @dingleberry_pie) was the lucky person to answer the door when he called, and it's giving us all the feels.

Aww! Fanny was so sweet to this lil' old man, and that's exactly what he needed. If only all people could be so kind and understanding! In the comment section, she explained, "he wasn't hungry, Just scared/confused. We hung out on the porch until his humans came looking for him." We're sure they appreciated it so much! Now that he's home safe and sound though, they'll have to rethink his arrangements.

"I think it's time the pet parents keep him indoors now," suggested @hardharry82. "Poor confused kitty🥰." We couldn't agree more! It will definitely be an adjustment if this guy isn't used to being an indoor cat, but it would be the safest choice for him.

As it turns out--his owners had the very same idea. In another update, Fanny let viewers know that, "he is back with his people now, yes 🥰 in a loving home, only a block and a half away, down a quiet street. & is being safely kept indoors." We love a happy ending!
