Valentine’s Day is an excellent opportunity to rejoice in the wonder of love, dole out flowers to your nearest and dearest, eat some cookies or Dairy Queen, and revel in a world of red and pink. However, if you’re reeling from a broken heart, Valentine’s Day can feel like a painful reminder of all that has been lost. Now, a company in the UK has come up with an ingenious way to help people from around the world get over their exes by sending them straight to the scrap heap. Talk about finding closure!

Scrap Car Comparison scraps thousands of cars every year, but this year has decided to put them to good use by naming those junkers after your ex. They will spray paint that no good ex’s name on a clunker, send a photo to document the very special occasion, and then send that junk to the scrap heap where it belongs.

The company behind this clever form of catharsis just saw a unique opportunity to help those suffering from heartache. “We scrap a lot of vehicles, so it made sense to make something more of them this year,” David Kottaun, Operations Manager of Scrap Car Comparison said in a press release. “Unfortunately, all of us will likely have been through a breakup at some point in our lives, and we realize how hard it can be to get over and move on. We hope by providing this unique form of closure, symbolically scrapping an ex will help people to leave their heartbreak behind for good.”

To get in on the tongue-in-cheek fun, simply enter the name of the person to ‘scrap’ (you can even nominate that meanie who broke your sister’s heart!) on the Scrap Car Comparison website. Nominations close on Valentine’s Day, so whatever your feelings are on romance, there’s something to celebrate this year.

While you have until February 14 to send in your nomination, they do expect a large amount of entries so send yours right away. They said in the press release that "not all exes may be able to be scrapped, but the brand is aiming to scrap as many as possible."

You can even make yourself a chocolate-covered strawberry cheesecake to enjoy while waiting for the photos to roll in showing your ex is in the scrap heap where they belong.
