Taylor Swift might not be the most political pop star out there, but that doesn't mean she lacks fans in the government arena. On Wednesday, after Capitol Hill reporter Juliegrace Brufke tweeted that Swift was going to be visiting the Russell Senate office building, Rollcall reported interns, Senate pages, and staffers gathered around the building, looking for sight of Swift.

But while Swift was in D.C. that Tuesday night for her stadium tour, it looks like she never made it over to the Senate building (or at least no one spotted her and no officials seem to be able to confirm she had a meeting there). Brufke later tweeted that her sources were wrong:

There was one celeb who graced the Capitol Complex that same day: actress and activist Jane Fonda, who was there on behalf of National Domestic Workers Alliance, according to Vanity Fair.

And while, again, Swift has been pretty light when it comes to her political activism (she's shown support for survivors of sexual assault and March for Our Lives, yet was eerily silent during the 2016 presidential election), this isn't even the first time such a rumor has caused interns to assemble with hopes of spotting the singer. In 2015, Don Stewart, an aide to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, helped the rumor grow by tweeting, "OMG, @taylorswift13 in the Rotunda?" He later clarified that she was, again, not there, and that everyone should go back to work.

Sorry, interns. Guess you just have to shake it off.
