Selma Blair poked fun at the college admissions scandal with a hilariously savage meme

On March 12th, news broke that dozens of people were caught participating in a college admissions scandal. Among them was celebrity Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannuli, who allegedly paid $500,000 for their daughters to attend USC. As a result, both Loughlin and Giannulli were arrested on a felony charge. The Hallmark Channel cut ties with Loughlin and Fuller House plans to write her out of the show. Loughlin’s daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, reportedly dropped out of USC. And Olivia Jade lost a number of sponsorships, including one with Sephora.

As the story continues to make news, more and more people weigh in about it. On March 17th, Selma Blair joked about the ordeal on Instagram with a hilariously savage meme. The photo shows her son, Arthur, photoshopped into a picture of a rowing team.

“Stoked to have just finished Arthur’s college #admissions papers,” she captioned the pic.

The joke, if you’re not following this case, is that Olivia Jade was admitted to USC as a recruit for the rowing team. However, she’s not actually listed on USC’s women’s rowing roster.

Blair isn’t the only celebrity poking fun at the college admissions scandal. During the recent Boy Meets World reunion, Danielle Fishel joked that Topanga’s parents went a similar route to pay for her education.

Actress Olivia Munn joked about it, too.

And George Lopez’s joke makes a pretty important statement.

It’s okay to laugh at the outrageousness of the college admissions scandal. But it’s also important to remember that it’s a big example of classism. It’s deeply unfair that kids who are already extraordinarily privileged took away opportunities from other students who deserved more.
