Selling Sunset's Heather Rae Young opens up about what being a step-mum really feels like

Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young has opened up about her honest feelings on being a step-mother to her husband's two children. It comes just weeks after she shared an update on her own motherhood journey, revealing that she's currently undergoing egg freezing with the hope of conceiving a child with Tarek El Moussa – who already has an 11-year-old and a six-year-old from a previous marriage.

"My heart melts," she wrote in a post on her Instagram Story. "I have a beautiful bond with Tay and Bray. Yes I am a 'step-mom' but in my heart I'm just a mom." The 34-year-old went on: "No title, no 'step', no 'bonus'. I don't push them to call me anything, but whatever they want to call me. I never have and I never will."

In the past, Heather has spoken candidly about not wanting to have children, however she recently revealed that the bond she shares with Tarek's kids has changed her mind on motherhood. "We don't know how life's going to shift and what the future holds. When we first met, we both had said 'no' to having children," she told HollywoodLife earlier this year. "And, you know, obviously as my love grew for the children and I fell into this amazing position as a step mom — I just I love being a step mom, I love being a mom, I love raising children."

Heather continued: "And so more recently I have started thinking about having one of my own. I brought it up to Tarek and at first we talked about it and so we’re on the same page. We are planning on possibly having a baby in the future but right now I am going through egg freezing. I’m doing the second round of egg freezing."

In recent weeks, Heather has been open with her fans about her egg freezing experience, sharing both the highs and lows on social media. "We just left my fertility doctor and not the best news," she said in a clip shared to her Instagram Story in January, pointing out that her recent round of egg retrieval hadn't been as successful as she'd hoped.

But, later that same month, Heather shared an "exciting" update about the process. "My little babies — my little El Moussas," she said of the five embryos yielded from her second attempt.
