Will There Be a 'Selling Sunset' Spin-off in Cabo San Lucas?

Selling Sunset's continued success paved the way for equally enticing spin-offs—both those related to The Oppenheim Group brokerage and those that are not. First, there was Selling Tampa centered on Allure Realty. Then we got Selling the OC, which recently dropped its second season on Netflix. Currently, the potential list of upcoming luxury real estate reality show spin-offs includes The O Group's two other offices: in San Diego, California and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The latter was recently featured during the latest season of Selling the OC, which has left viewers wondering: Will there be a Selling Cabo? Here's everything we know about the office and the possibility of another spin-off.

First, When Did The Oppenheim Group Open an Office in Cabo San Lucas?

The brokerage announced its Mexico expansion in December 2022. Located in the Hacienda Beach Club, the office overlooks the ocean and the rock formation El Arco. On Instagram, the brokerage stated: "This expansion into Cabo San Lucas is the culmination of an exciting partnership with Diego Sanchez Navarro and Grupo Questro, as we bring to market the Ritz Carlton Residences, the Enclaves, the 1 Homes Residences by 1 Hotels, the Hacienda Beach Club Residences, and billions of dollars in new projects on the best undeveloped land that Cabo has to offer."

Who Works at the Cabo San Lucas Office?

During Selling the OC (season two, episode six), the cast becomes the first stateside-based Oppenheim Group agents to visit the Cabo office. Jason Oppenheim introduced Alan Fabjan to them as the brokerage’s partner who "is really running the Cabo office for us." Alen, who has lived in Mexico for more than two decades, is listed as a sales director and broker on the company's website.

Apart from Alen, Jason didn’t mention any other agents specifically working from the Cabo office. There seem to be seven or so desks in the main entry area along with a community table—but the furnishing selection can really mean anything. They could be planning to hire agents, or they already have staffed up, or the desks are there for visiting agents to use. Some could even be for show.

What Brought The Oppenheim Group to Cabo?

On Selling the OC, Jason told the OC agents that their clients are likely buying in Cabo. "Cabo was selling about $400 to $500 million of real estate in 2020," he said. "This year, so far, they're on pace for over $2 billion in sales."

He went on to reveal details about the major project they're working on in the city: a $2 billion, 2,400-acre development on El Tule Beach. The project includes 50 oceanfront homes, each of which is about half an acre. Behind them, on the hillside, will be 300 homes—all of which will also have ocean views.

During the show, the OC agents toured two of the villas within the development. One six-bedroom, six-bathroom abode across 6,090 square feet was priced at $27.5 million, while the other 8,200-square-foot villa with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms was priced at $45 million.

So, Will There Be a Selling Sunset Spin-off in Cabo?

For now, it seems like The O Group's business in Cabo will only be featured through existing spin-offs including Selling the OC and likely Selling Sunset. But we're not ruling out another show down the road. Stay tuned for any updates!
