These New Selfie Poses Are Even Better Than the Fish Gape

For something so simple, there could be a book written on all the different ways to take a selfie. (Oh, wait, Kim Kardashian already did that!) As superficial and silly as the duck face or the fish gape or any one of the countless tricks for taking the "best" selfie may be, the reason remains that we all just want to share a photo with our friends where we look the way we want. Ie: Not a garbage monster who was up all night working or just had a massive period breakout (yay, hormones). For better or worse, we all know this feeling.

That said, ain't no one got the time to download five different selfie-altering apps and FaceTune yourself into oblivion—nor should you feel the need to. And that's where this latest selfie trend comes in.

It's less about getting a perfect image, and more about feeling confident enough to share a photo no matter the state of your skin or how many cups of coffee you've chugged to keep yourself awake. In fact, you might even be feeling your selfie when your skin is breaking out. Take Gigi Hadid for example below. Gorgeous as ever, right? But she could totally be covering up a big ol' zit, and the world would never know, thanks to just a few fingers:

The concept is basic, but the results, as a few our favorite celebrities prove, look natural. You just use your hands. That's it. No face contorting (really, did any of us actually ever master the fish gape?), no need to take 20 snaps to find "the one." Plus, there are some bonuses to it: You can show off your manicure, new rings, or your latest La Mer haul (actually, that one just might be for Chrissy Teigen). More of our favorite Selfie Queens show us how the new "Hands-on-Your-Face-Selfie" is done:

See you on the Gram.
