Seletti’s Tripp Trapp Chair to Go Under the Hammer

MILAN Seletti, the Italian brand known worldwide for its surrealist, provocative, iconic designs, has teamed with Norwegian children’s premium products company Stokke for its own version of the Tripp Trapp Chair.

Envisaged by Scandinavian designer Peter Opsvik in 1972 and often referred to as “the chair that grows with the child” and “a chair for life,” the trademarked design is adjustable for all stages — from the high chair stage to adulthood.

Now in its 51st year, the Tripp Trapp model has been revamped by Seletti artistic director Stefano Seletti’s eclectic and colorful flair.

Seletti said the project struck his interest, as he had been fond of the chair since his own two daughters were children.

“They always scribbled and colored the chairs with crayons, markers and with names…and I always had this urge to draw with them,” Seletti reminisced.

The aesthete famous for designs like his Monkey lamp and Lipstick motif said only one chair has been created and will be auctioned off during Italy’s De Marchi Foundation’s charity night for the construction of the pediatric ward, slated for later this year.
