Selena Quintanilla Finally Got a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The late singer received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A much-overdo star was finally unveiled yesterday!

Although Selena Quintanilla was tragically killed more than 20 years ago, fans still turned out in droves to honor the late singer on Friday as she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony was attended by hundreds, including actors Eva Longoria and Edward James Olmos, as well as Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and there were more than a few teary eyes in the crowd as attendees paid homage to Selena, who was murdered in 1995.

"Selena was an angel," Garcetti said, according to People. "While she was taken from us way too early, we now have something permanent that generation after generation after generation can see in the most famous neighborhood anywhere in the world."

Longoria also said a few words about the late icon, explaining how important Selena's legacy is to the Latina community: "As Eric said, this star isn't only for Selena. It's for every Latina who's out there, who has ever had a dream."

"Growing up there was no reflection of me anywhere, not on TV, not in movies, not in music, and it was as if someone like me didn't exist in American mainstream," Longoria continued. "That all changed when a bright, young singer named Selena came and changed the landscape of music entertainment."

Long may she reign. #Queen
