Selena Gomez's Rare is finally here. And while the singer hinted her Justin Bieber breakup songs were finished after releasing "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now," she may have included one last message to Bieber about what he lost in the album's namesake track, "Rare."

"Rare" explores a relationship where Gomez was undervalued by her partner—a partner she saw a longterm future with. (Hence the line "Saw us getting older / Burning toast in the toaster / My ambitions were too high.") History suggests this person could be Bieber, as he and Gomez were on-off for 10 years. When they got back together in October 2017, then ended things in March 2017, many were convinced at the time that the two were on a break.

In fact, multiple sources told People that they were convinced the break was totally temporary. A source told E! on March 7 that "they will absolutely get back together and they are not over, but they both need some time away from each other," while someone close to Justin Bieber told People on March 8, “They weren’t getting along and decided to take a break. It doesn’t seem like a big deal and they will probably be fine soon again.”

“They’ve been having disagreements, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they’re back together in a week,” a source told People on March 12

They weren't. Bieber started dating Hailey Baldwin again in June 2018 (they'd also been on and off for years). The two got engaged in July 2018 and married in September 2018. A source told Us Weekly when Bieber and Baldwin had their second wedding in September 2019 that "Selena knows she’s better off without Justin, and that it’s the healthiest decision for her." The source added, "She is open to dating, but right now she is solely focused on herself and enjoying life to the best of her ability, and getting back to being the Selena that she and all of her close ones knew prior to dating Justin."

That sentiment seems to be reflected in the lyrics of "Rare." Here, every lyric from the song to analyze:

Baby
You've been so distant from me lately
And lately
Don't even wanna call you baby

Saw us getting older
Burning toast in the toaster
My ambitions were too high
Waiting up for you upstairs
Why you act like I'm not there?
Baby, right now it feels like

It feels like you don't care
Why don't you recognize I'm so rare?
Always there
You don't do the same for me
That's not fair

I don't have it all
I'm not claiming to
But I know that I'm special, yeah
And I bet there's somebody else out there
To tell me I'm rare
To make me feel rare

Baby
Don't make me count up all the reasons to stay with you
No reason
Why you and I are not succeeding?
Uh uh, mm, uh uh

Saw us getting older
Burning toast in the toaster
My ambitions were too high
Waiting up for you upstairs
Why you act like I'm not there?
Baby, right now it feels like

It feels like you don't care
Why don't you recognize I'm so rare?
Always there
You don't do the same for me
That's not fair

I don't have it all
I'm not claiming to
But I know that I'm special, yeah
And I bet there's somebody else out there
To tell me I'm rare
To make me feel rare

I'm not gonna beg for you
Not gonna let you make me cry
Not getting enough from you
Didn't you know I'm hard to find?

Saw us getting older
Burning toast in the toaster
My ambitions were too high
Waiting up for you upstairs
Why you act like I'm not there?
Baby, right now it feels like

It feels like you don't care
Why don't you recognize I'm so rare?
Always there
You don't do the same for me
That's not fair

I don't have it all
I'm not claiming to
But I know that I'm special, yeah
And I bet there's somebody else out there
To tell me I'm rare
To make me feel rare
