There's no question Selena Gomez always comes to slay on the red carpet. Whether she's channeling a Renaissance princess at the Golden Globes, debuting a lob at her Rare Impact Fund event, or creating the fire glaze manicure trend at the VMAS, she knows how to make an entrance.

For her latest red carpet appearance at the 3rd Annual Academy Museum Gala at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, Gomez turned to inspiration from ballerinas for her hairdo, and classic Hollywood glamour for her outfit.

Starting at the top of the look, her ballerina bun was styled to perfection by her hairstylist Marissa Marino. All of Gomez's hair was slicked down, straight back and tight against her head. Sitting on the middle of the back of her head, her bun wrapped around itself a few times, for a full, rope-like effect. Of course, there wasn't eve a baby hair out of place. Slicked buns have been everywhere the past few years, but the middle-of-the-head placement gives Gomez's more of a classic ballerina feel than the center-parted, low "model off duty" buns that are popular.

The ultra-chic, simplistic hairstyle allowed for all the focused to be on her gorgeous embellished gown. A Valentino design, it was almost your classic long black gown if it weren't for the shimmery accents—where most of the dress was simple, tight-fitting, and jet black, her shoulders were adorned with a shawl of large chrome roses.

On top of the strapless neckline was a string of the aforementioned silver flowers that looked as if they were tied around her neck before draping off her shoulders and hanging on her arms. Gomez's stylist Erin Walsh finished off the look with opera gloves, a thick silver cuff, matching ring, and coordinating dangling earrings.

For glam, Gomez and her makeup artist Melissa Murdick kept things simple but gorgeous. Gomez's skin was glowy and dewy, with noticeable highlights on the high points of her face. Her cheeks had a touch of rosy blush that brought color to her complexion alongside some light contour. As for lips, they were a warm nude shade with a satin finish. Then, her eyes finished off the look. On top of dark eyeliner and long, dark, fluttery lashes was a silver shadow similar to the hue of the roses. Mostly concentrated on the middle of her eyelids, it tapered off into a small wing at her outer corners.
