In 2020, the year of our Lord, society is finally moving towards a less wasteful existence. Everything from your Starbucks coffee cup to the clothes you shop is becoming more sustainable, but once prom season comes around, all that progress goes right out the window.
You spend hundreds on a prom dress, jewelry, accessories, and shoes that you'll wear exactly one single time and then never touch again. *Sigh.* But our icon and hero Selena Gomez has just made strong a case for re-using your sparkly prom bling and I think we all need to hear her out.
To promote her new beauty brand Rare, Selena posted a selfie flaunting her flawless beat. And while her glam is serving Facetune-levels of perfection, as a self-identifying Fashion Person, I am more interested in her 'fit.

Selena wore your run-of-the-mill turtleneck sweater, but played it up with glitzy crystal earrings that would look right at home with a prom night ball gown. Adding a dose of sparkle helped the staple feel less basic and more *pop star*.
Last month, Sel wore look-alike earrings with a sweater/skirt combo that's totally prom-appropriate.
