Selena Gomez Tells the ‘Not Fun’ Story of How She Broke Her Hand and Needed Surgery

Selena Gomez has been showing off her hand brace in her most recent Instagram Stories. In an interview with Ellen K Morning Show this week, she recounted how exactly she ended up in the position where she needed hand surgery. Turns out, it was a simple accident.

“I wish I had, like, a really cool story that I saved someone’s life or something,” she prefaced. “But I was in a long dress—it was a summer dress—and I was walking from my car to my house and tripped.”

When the host noted that at least Gomez didn’t break her teeth, the singer agreed that it could’ve been worse. “Yes, that’s what the doctors said so,” she recalled. “I guess there is a silver lining, but this is not fun. This is not fun.”

Gomez previously revealed in an Instagram comment that she “broke my hand and had surgery” shortly after the release of her new song “Single Soon.”

As for what dress she was wearing when the accident occurred, it’s possible Gomez shared an outfit post of it. She appeared in a very long summer dress on her Instagram Story on August 21. Her hand was not broken then.

Gomez has since shared images of herself with her hand brace in loungewear.
