Selena Gomez Teamed Up With Theresa Marie Mingus on a Swimwear Collection

Selena Gomez wears many hats: singer, actress, producer, one of the most-followed people on Instagram, activist, and now: swimwear designer! The multi-hyphenate teamed up with her good friend and former assistant Theresa Marie Mingus to create a few designs for Theresa’s new swimwear line, Krahs. (That’s “shark” backwards, if you’re wondering.)

The “Selena” suit is a bikini, with high-waisted bottoms and a bra-style top. Selena also contributed a one-piece zip-up suit to the line in a sporty shade of red. The suits are super cute and classic, but they also have a story that’s close to Selena’s heart and her journey.

In a video about the line, Selena explains that the suit's design was partially inspired by her kidney transplant scar. “I’ve had a kidney transplant, and I like bathing suits that kind of cover where that’s been and make me feel comfortable,” she revealed, referring to the high-waisted bikini bottoms and full-coverage one-piece. We love that Selena isn’t afraid to talk about her transplant and that she’s created pieces that not only reflect her story but could make others with a similar concern feel great. Each suit ranges from size XS to XXL.

Selena is also clearly very proud of Theresa. On Friday, May 3, she posted a pic of herself in the Selena top to Instagram, and she shouted out Theresa too, saying, “She has taught me how to see life in a fun, carefree and uplifting way. She has shown me how to be a strong and fearless woman. She is beautiful, kind and smart. I saw how capable she was of achieving her dreams. I wanted nothing more than to see her pursue them and soar. And here you are making it happen T. I love you and I am so proud of you.” Aww!
