Selena Gomez Spent Her Weekend Living Her Best Life on a Yacht

While Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin were busy getting engaged this weekend, Selena Gomez was lounging on a yacht and living her best life.

On Sunday, the singer and most-recent-Bieber-ex was spotted hanging with her friends on a cruise in New York City a few hours after the engagement news broke, People reports. In a series of Instagram videos on her friends' accounts, Gomez can be seen lounging on a yacht in a blue-and-white striped bikini, and encouraging some of the buddies she's with to jump into the Hudson River—a questionable, albeit spirited, choice.

Her friend also posted an Instagram of the two enjoying the sun, with the caption, "Bestfriendddddd."

According to E! News, her ex's engagement was a surprise—but not a shock. "Selena was surprised an engagement happened this quickly but not surprised Justin would do something like this knowing who he is," a source explains. "At the end of the day though she doesn't really care. Selena is totally over him. She had tried again to make it work that last time and it didn't work out."

As most know, Gomez and Bieber have been at the center of an on-again, off-again romantic saga that spans years. The timeline of the #jelena love affair began in December 2010, when the musicians were first spotted holding hands, to earlier this year, when they reportedly parted ways for good, with a series of breakups and makeups in between.

Most recently, the pair rekindled their love for a few months from November 2017 and March 2018, subsequently sending the entire Internet into a flurry, but ultimately, it didn't work out. "Selena realized even though he's made some positive improvements, they just aren't a perfect match right now," a source told E! at the time.

Bieber and Baldwin were linked shortly after his and Gomez's latest split (the model also dated Bieber in the past, during one of Justin and Selena's "off-again" periods), and their romance progressed at Ariana Grande–Pete Davidson levels of speed. All it took was a series of PDA-filled paparazzi shots over the course of two months before Bieber popped the question.

“It’s kind of a surprise, but kind of not. Justin has been extremely happy these past few weeks,” a source told People exclusively of the Bieber-Baldwin engagement. “He has known Hailey for a long time. This might seem sudden, but they know each other very well.”
