Neon green shorts may not be everyone's go-to look, but Selena Gomez chose to wear them boldly with a bright yellow hoodie and purple scrunchie yesterday while out with friends in Los Angeles. The singer was photographing her pals out in California. Connar Franklin shared an Instagram of some of the photos taken and Gomez in photographer mode. Paparazzi, simultaneously captured shots of Gomez's outfit.

The appearance comes the same day that Gomez and Michelle Obama announced the singer would be part of the First Lady's voting squad, a group of celebrities working to encourage everyone to register to vote for the 2020 election.

It also comes the same week Gomez is celebrating her first #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, "Lose You to Love Me." Gomez posted an Instagram explaining how much the honor meant to her earlier this week.

"My first number 1!!" she captioned it. "This song is so dear to my heart. I’ve been working so hard to make this album as honest and fun as possible while remaining vulnerable enough to share where I am in life. I love you deeply and thank you so much for listening. I want to thank each and every person that was apart of this moment that I’ll never forget!"

She shared an Instagram Story this afternoon of what appears to be a cake marking the honor:

Gomez is set to perform at the American Music Awards on November 24. It's not clear yet whether she'll be performing "Lose You to Love Me," "Look at Her Now," or another single on stage.
