Selena Gomez Shared a Rare Look at Her Natural Waves While in Quarantine

Selena Gomez is bored at home, which is a perfectly good reason as any to put on makeup and take some selfies.

On May 17, the pop singer posted a series of pics on Instagram in which she's wearing her soon-to-launch beauty line, Rare Beauty, with her natural waves out in all their glory, in keeping with one of the few silver linings of quarantine. "I had an urge to put my makeup on," she wrote in the caption. "My papa noticed then proceeded to ask 'why do you look like that?' He whistled as he walked away. So there’s that." Ignore your dad, Sel. You look amazing.

Earlier this year Gomez announced the news about Rare Beauty—you know, like the name of her latest album, Rare—which is meant to launch this summer at Sephora. Gomez has described the line as "clean and easy" and revealed it'll be launching with 48 shades of foundation and concealer.

There's no word yet on how much the coronavirus pandemic has effected this release. "While our office is closed and our team is working remotely, stay tuned here for more ways we’ll be connecting with you and continue building this community together," the Rare Beauty team wrote on Instagram back in March.

Back in February, Rare Beauty revealed its mission "to shape conversations around beauty, self-acceptance, and mental health." In another post, Gomez, who recently revealed she has bipolar disorder during an Instagram Live with Miley Cyrus, expanded even further about what this line means to her.

“Being rare is about being comfortable with yourself,” she says in the above clip. “I’ve stopped trying to be perfect. I just want to be me. I think Rare Beauty can be more than a beauty brand. I want us all to stop comparing ourselves to each other and start embracing our uniqueness. You’re not defined by a photo, a like, or a comment. Rare Beauty isn’t about how other people see you. It’s about how you see yourself.”
