Selena Gomez Performed "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now" at the AMAs 2019

It was the first time she performed either song live.

Selena Gomez is back in a big way, and she’s officially performed her new music for the very first time.

The singer-songwriter took the stage on Sunday, November 24 to perform at the 2019 American Music Awards, where she opened the show with a performance of "Lose You to Love Me." Her live rendition was essentially a re-creation of her chic black-and-white music video; she stood alone on the stage dressed in all black, save for sparkly eyeshadow. Behind her, clips from the video were broadcast on a huge screen, giving the whole thing an old-fashioned movie theatre vibe.

As the soft ballad ended, the lights burst into technicolor for her performance of “Look at Her Now.” Gone was the black turtleneck; instead, Selena rocked a skin-tight sparkly bodysuit, thigh-high boots, and a ton of glitter. All around her, backup dancers broke out into fast choreography, and we even spotted some of Sel’s BFFs in the audience screaming wildly.

Sel first released “Lose You to Love Me” back in October, after taking a bit of a break from the spotlight. She followed it up with “Look At Her Now,” a completely catchy jam with an equally eye-popping video to match.

Although the AMAs marked the first time in a while that Selena took the stage to perform her own new music, she did recently join pal Julia Michaels at her Los Angeles concert to perform their collab, “Anxiety.” (They later commemorated the occasion with matching tattoos — forever and always friendship goals!)

It sure seems as though this new era of Selena is just getting started; the singer-songwriter recently announced that her upcoming album will be out on January 10, 2020. Yep, it’s safe to say that Selenators are going to start off the new year feeling completely hashtag-blessed.
