In addition to the other highlights on Selena Gomez's resumé (see: actress, Grammy-nominated singer, and beauty entrepreneur), you can now add co-founder of a mental health company to the list. Gomez just announced the launch of her newest project Wondermind, a multimedia platform that focuses on improving and maintaining "mental fitness" through free expert-backed content, tools, and resources.

The Only Murders in the Building actress revealed the goal of this platform is to "destigmatize and democratize" mental health in a recent interview on Good Morning America. "I really want people to be understood, seen, and heard," said Gomez in the interview. "It's okay to not be okay."

Gomez has always been transparent about her own mental health journey, and last year she announced that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder (a mental disorder characterized by changes to mood and energy levels). "It was really freeing to have the information," said Gomez about her bipolar disorder diagnosis during her recent GMA interview. "It made me really happy because I started to have a relationship with myself, and I think that's the best part." The "Lose You to Love Me" singer also admitted to having social media boundaries for the sake of prioritizing her mental health, something she's discussed in the past too. "I haven't been on the internet in four and a half years," she said in the recent interview. While the artist helps curate the content seen on her social media profiles, she isn't the one who's actively keeping up with the platforms. "It has changed my life completely," she said in the interview. "I am happier, I am more present, and I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal."

For the launch, Gomez teamed up with her mother, Mandy Teefey, and Daniella Pierson, the founder and CEO of women-focused media company The Newsette. Pierson, who shared she has obsessive compulsive disorder (a condition that results in intrusive thoughts and excessive urges), and Teefey, who admitted she deals with ADHD and "lots of trauma," were both also candid about their experiences with mental health during the GMA interview.

"[Wondermind] is for anyone with feelings, who wants to feel understood, loved, and cared about," said Pierson on GMA. "You should be working on your mental fitness just like you work on your physical fitness."

All three women made passionate statements about mental health during the brief interview, displaying how their new company came to be. "If I'm known for anything, I hope it's simply just for the way I care about people," added Gomez. "And those days where I don't want to get out of bed, if I had something like Wondermind, even if it took me a minute to get into it, it's just there, and there's something that's really comforting about that." In addition to a website, Wondermind also includes a free newsletter subscription that sends exclusive content to subscribers three times a week.
