You’re never too famous or cool to poke fun at yourself, as Selena Gomez just proved in an adorable and funny throwback TikTok video that even includes an iconic Teen Vogue reference.

A sound clip of a younger Selena being interviewed about her look for a Teen Vogue party all the way back in 2007 has been going viral on the video platform; in the clip, Selena talks about the blue streak in her hair. “I’ve got some blue going on!” she says. “I like a little edge, a little pop in my hair, so I wanted to add something different, especially for the Teen Vogue party.” Her younger self adapts a bit of an affected tone for the words “Teen Vogue,” making the short clip ideal for a TikTok treatment. (You can see the original interview here if you’re curious.)

Selena poked fun at her ‘07 self in her own TikTok vid, reciting her blue hair speech as she plays with a multi-colored rainbow wig with a small blue section and rolling her eyes in a “too cool for school” manner as she does so. Do we think Selena needed a few takes to nail her former self’s sound blurb or did she actually remember the moment? That remains to be seen, but she’s got the whole thing down. “To my younger self,” she writes in her caption. “You’re not cool bro.” We beg to differ, Selena — we think both versions of you are super cool.

Selena is never shy about teasing her younger self in public. She recently went through some video and red carpet looks with Vogue and publicly cringed at a few, including another one from 2007 where she wore high white boots, skinny jeans, and a graphic tee. “I felt cool at the time... I didn't have all this fancy stuff around me and I thought that made me pretty edgy," she said. Hey, Selena, we’ve all got some cringeworthy fashion moments hiding in our proverbial closes, and we love taking a trip down memory lane with you!
