Francía Raísa is finally opening up about her relationship with Selena Gomez after their highly publicized “tiff.”

Gomez fans really started questioning Raísa's absense from Gomez's inner circle when the Rare Beauty founder released her 2022 documentary, My Mind and Me. Although the project was filmed from 2016 to 2020, it did not feature Raísa, who donated her kidney to Gomez in 2017. Well, according to Raísa, the pair pretty much stopped speaking for six years until Gomez extended an olive branch to the How I Met Your Father star on her 35th birthday in July 2023.

“I don't know why the timing happened the way it did, but I remember being in St. Tropez in June and I kept talking about her,” Raísa recently told USA Today. We hadn't spoken much in six years. Especially the last year, we didn't speak at all. I don't know why the universe decided this timing…then she reached out and said, ‘Let's talk.’”

Raísa didn't divulge their dinner conversation, but we know the pair agreed: “No beef, just salsa.” The actor eventually turned this phrase into merch after posting it on Instagram Stories after their reunion dinner in August. Lemons into lemonade, and all that.

Of course, this doesn't mean they're back to trading sister necklaces...yet. Francia Raísa told USA Today that she and Selena Gomez are “still getting to know each other again” after taking some “needed time apart.”

“We've never really had beef with each other,” Raísa said. “Nothing happened, and if you ask either of us, we don't know what happened but we needed that time apart. Then, when you come back together, you're better people. She and I are still getting to know each other again.

She continued, “And obviously, you know, I gave the girl a kidney, so everyone felt a certain way and I was asked for years and years and years, 'Do you regret it?' and I was like, 'No, the relationship has always been there.' There was just a tiff.”
