Earlier today, as I was sipping iced coffee outside, absorbing the dregs of summer before autumn paints skies gray, I was struck with envy: Two women, also consuming coffee, were sitting at a hightop, their superbly stylish, chunky-soled loafers dangling before my eyes. In that moment, I acknowledged my loafer FOMO, which has been building ever since Taylor Swift whipped out a pair in May.
In using celebrity style as my inspiration to find the best chunky loafers, I’ve concluded Selena Gomez is the queen of nailing the trend. Her most recent pair of thick-soled kicks is arguably her best yet — and, surprisingly, hail from Aldo, a classic mall brand with relatively affordable options. The real kicker: Gomez’s exact pair, the Aldo Baberiel lug sole loafer in the shade chalk, are on sale — and they’re still in stock.
