Seems Like a 'White Lotus' Prequel Is a Real Possibility

At the Vivid Sydney Festival in Sydney, Australia on Saturday, White Lotus creator Mike White said that a prequel series centered on fan-favorite Tanya McQuid (played by Jennifer Coolidge) was "absolutely" a possibility (via Deadline). "We were just talking about that," he said when asked whether he would consider such an idea.
"It’s a funny idea. And making Jennifer, you know, 20 years younger, that would be fun too. I think Jennifer’s like, ‘Sure, let’s do it!’”

There's certainly plenty of material to mine for a prequel (after all, rich, lonely middle-aged women aren't born, they're made). The scene in Season 1 where Tanya attempts to scatter her mother's ashes is in itself a treasure trove of storylines.
"She tried very, very hard to be a really good mother, even though she didn’t have any maternal instincts or skills," Tanya said in the scene. "She was always in search of male affection, and she was … a nymphomaniac. I’d walk in her room and I’d find all sorts of strange men in her bed."
She goes on to say that her mother had borderline personality disorder, that she "took her money and manipulated people with it," and that she was cruel.

"My mother told me I would never be a ballerina, and that was when I was skinny!" Tanya said. "My poor mother, she just couldn’t handle her jealousy. She had to take me down. And what’s weird is I miss my mother, even though she was a big jerk!" Big jerks do make for good TV.
However this hypothetical prequel shapes up (if it ever does), Coolidge hopes it gets filmed Down Under. "Australia gets my vote," she told the audience.
