See Venus, a Crescent Moon, and Taurus This Weekend
Earlier this month, a Full Worm Moon shone brightly in the night sky. While there won't be another supermoon until next month, stargazers will have plenty of stunning astronomical sights to look forward to this weekend.
According to EarthSky, the waxing crescent moon and Venus will be close together on March 28 and March 29 right after sunset. With clear skies, they'll be easy to spot since the moon is the second-brightest celestial object in the night sky and Venus, which is nicknamed the "evening star," is the brightest planet in our solar system. So, the two brightest natural objects after the sun will both be visible this weekend.
Along with Venus and the waxing crescent moon, there will be another celestial sight you won't want to miss: Taurus, "the bull" constellation. The Aldebaran, a red giant star that depicts the bull's eye, is Taurus's brightest star. Above Venus and the moon, you'll be able to see the Pleiades, an open star cluster that's also part of Taurus. The Pleiads— also known as the Seven Sisters—are luminous, blue stars. They're so bright that they can be seen with the naked eye, so you won't even need a telescope or binoculars to enjoy them.
For the best view of Venus, the waxing crescent moon, and Taurus, look southwest after sunset on March 28, according to Forbes.
