Disney+ on Tuesday dropped off the first official teaser trailer for its upcoming live-action remake of Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks as Geppetto.

While the preview only features a short glimpse at the titular toy (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth), it does see Hanks' puppet-maker carving Pinocchio from a block of wood and making a fateful wish upon a star for the toy to be brought to life by the Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo). The visual also places an emphasis on Jiminy Cricket, voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who receives ample screentime while encountering several fantastical storybook characters.

Alongside Hanks, Ainsworth, Erivo and Gordon-Levitt, the cast includes Luke Evans as the evil Coachman, Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John and Lorraine Bracco as Sofia the Seagull, among others. The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Weitz.

Zenneckis' Pinocchio will arrive as a remake of Disney's 1940 animated film. Notably, that film was originally based on Carlo Collodi's 1883 book The Adventures of Pinocchio.

Pinocchio will premiere on Disney+ on September 8. Watch the first trailer above.

Elsewhere in entertainment, The Mandalorian season four is already in development.
