See the Lipstick From the Selena Quintanilla Collection by MAC

Selena had always dreamed of a makeup collection.

Mexican-American Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla has been gone for 21 years — after being murdered by her fan club president — but she is far from forgotten.

After years of entreaties, MAC is debuting a multiproduct collection, including Como La Flor lipstick, pictured above, that is inspired by her fans and curated with Selena’s sister, Suzette. It’s hard not to note how close the color matches the lipstick Selena is wearing. Her fans, who have kept her alive with YouTube makeup tutorials, will no doubt be thrilled.

Though full details are limited, People reports that the collection will be filled with bright, bold lipsticks packaged in equally vibrant purple tubes.

“I wanted the colors to be about her personally, what she wore on and off stage,” Suzette said in a statement. “She has been gone for 21 years already, and for this collaboration to happen, it’s pretty much incredible. It just shows the love her fan base has even though she’s gone; that her music still lives on and her legacy has grown tremendously since she’s passed. It’s a great honor to have MAC collaborate with Selena’s name and her fans — for her fans.”

Her husband and bandmate, Chris Perez, shared the news on his Facebook page, writing, “Here you go guys and girls … a first look at what the lipstick will look like … from the Selena line of makeup that MAC is putting out. The color is ‘Como La Flor.’ It is an exact color match of one of Selena’s … taken from her personal makeup case that she used to take on the road. Launch date is scheduled for October 2016. On THAT note, have a great day everyone!”
