See St. Joseph: Stepping back in time

May 9—This weekend, St. Joseph residents can go back in time with historical home tours, 80's dance nights and more in this week's edition of See St. Joseph.

If you have loose change sitting in a piggy bank, it's time to empty it because the Friends of the Animal Shelter is hosting its fourth annual Raise Your Paws for a Cause dinner and quarter auction. Bring your quarters and appetites while you raise funds to support the animals in need at the St. Joseph Animal Control and Rescue. This fundraiser is one of the organization's largest of the year. All money raised will go toward adoption specials and the medical care of the shelter animals. The auction begins at 6 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Stoney Creek Hotel, 1201 N. Woodbine Road.

This weekend presents the opportunity to explore some of St. Joseph's rich history, support local arts and sample craft brews with the annual Beer Walk for the Arts. This walk benefits the Arts Fund, which provides financial assistance for eight arts organizations in town and will include a treasure trove of St. Joseph architecture with six homes on the tour. The event features craft beers at each location from a variety of Midwestern breweries, paired with food samples from area eateries. In addition to the craft beer samples and the home tour, live music representing a wide variety of genres will be featured throughout the event. The walk begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, with check-in at the historic Whiskey Mansion at 1723 Francis St. Tickets are $35 at stjoearts.ticketleap.com/beer-walk-for-the-arts-2024.

Pull out your parachute pants and get that hairspray ready because the Trail Theatre is celebrating the greatest era of music with an 80s dance night on Saturday, May 11 at 111 N.
