See St. Joseph: Community support and fun

May 22—This weekend, St. Joseph is offering several chances for community involvement. Whether it be attending a show, supporting the Noyes Home or sleuthing out a murder mystery, residents are encouraged to get out there and See St. Joseph.

After originally being rained out, the Noyes Home has rescheduled and will be hosting a porch party with everyone invited to join in on the fun. This free family event will feature St. Joseph's well-known edu-tainers Will Stuck and Dino O'Dell. If that's not enough to entice you, there's going to be a food truck on site. Enjoy a relaxing evening at Noyes Home and learn more about supporting its mission beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 24.

With the warmer weather comes the return of community market season in St. Joseph. Check out unique goods and products from local gardeners, farmers, makers and bakers. It's a great time to connect with local people and find items, plants and food that nourish the heart of St. Joseph. This community market is open rain or shine from 9 a.m. to noon every fourth Saturday of the month, including May 25, at 1202 Felix St.

The Wyeth-Tootle Mansion is looking for St. Joseph's finest sleuths and detectives for there has been a murder. Join in the fun for a night of murder and mystery. This interactive game of Whodunit will have you searching all three floors of the 19th-century home to see if you have what it takes to solve a murder. The event is popular, so be sure to get your tickets before they sell out. The night will include gameplay and refreshments. The game begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the mansion. Tickets can be purchased online at www.stjosephmuseum.org.

Get ready for things to heat up this weekend with Pyro Flow's May Fire and Flow Jam Saturday at Krug Park. Every month, Pyro Flow features a variety of performers of all ages and abilities. These fire and flow jams are intended to be a space for building community, making connections, practicing art and lifting one another up. Be sure to bring a blanket or chair to sit on. Sparks fly at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25, in the Krug Park parking lot.

St. Joseph is built on local entertainment, education and of course community support. There's no need to go to Kansas City when the party is right at home. So get out there and see what our historic town has to offer.
